RECITAL category

First round “online”
Each candidate will provide an unindexed YouTube link (video or audio) to our Artistic Director at kontrabass888@gmail.com

a movement from Bach , suite for solo cello or a movement from Fryba, suite for solo double bass.
-
the first movement of a classical concerto (Dittersdorf, Vanhal, Sperger…)
with piano if possible, but without piano is acceptable.

 

Second round
Approximately 20 minutes of a contrasting program chosen by the candidate from this list:
Giovanni Bottesini: Romanza Drammatica, Allegretto cappriccio, Tarantella, elegia 1,2,3, Capriccio di Bravura or Fantasia “La Sonnambula“
Jean Francaix: Varied Theme for Double Bass
Sofia Gubaidulina: 8 studies (selection)
Teppo Hauta-Aho: Cadenza
Hans-Werner Henze: Serenade or „S. Biagio 9 Agosto Ore 1207“
Julien-Francois Zbinden: Homage to Bach

 

Final round (30-40 min.)

Approximately 30-40 minutes of a contrasting program chosen by the candidate from this list:

Paul Hindemith: Sonata

* The competition is open to trainees over 19 years of age . The choice between orchestral or solo arrangement is left to the candidate, who must provide the piano parts without transposition.

* An accompanist is provided for the tests, but candidates may come accompanied by their pianist.

* In each round, the sonatas or concertos can be played in separate movements to accommodate timing and the diversity of styles.

* Final round for only 6 candidates!
