Miloslav JELINEK

Czech double bassist Miloslav JELINEK was a section leader at the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra and is a professor of double bass at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno.

MILOSLAV JELÍNEK graduated from the Kroměříž Conservatory (prof. Miloslav Gajdoš) and then from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (prof. Jiří Bortlíček). During his studies, he participated in numerous performance competitions and won many prizes.

Miloslav Jelínek was principal double bassist of the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra for 23 years. He taught at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, the University of Ostrava, the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wrocław, Poland (2012–2015), and the Brno Conservatory. He is an honorary professor at the Beijing Conservatory. Miloslav Jelínek is the founder and president of the Czech Society of Double Bassists. He collaborates with numerous chamber ensembles (e.g., the Janáček String Quartet, the Brindisi String Quartet, the Wallinger Quartet, and the RIX Quartet).

Every September, he organizes the International Double Bass Convention in Brno, Czech Republic. He has made numerous recordings for radio, television, and CDs, and with his wife, Marcela Jelínková (piano), he gives many double bass recitals in the Czech Republic and abroad. He performs as a soloist with symphony orchestras—including the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, Lower Silesia Philharmonic, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia, Brno Chamber Orchestra, Czech Chamber Soloists, and many others. He is also the conductor of the Brno Double Bass Orchestra. Miloslav Jelínek performs many contemporary pieces written specifically for him. For example Jiří Matys, Tony Osborne, Miloš Štědroň, František Emmert, Leoš Faltus etc…

Miloslav Jelínek gives numerous workshops and master classes around the world (China, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, Latvia, Singapore, USA etc…).
